2 FU Lecturers Accompany 11 Students to Participate in Interfaith Live-In Future Heroes: Build a Bridge 2024
Ushul News – Depok – 2 lecturers from the Faculty of Ushuluddin UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, namely Dr. Rahmat Hidayatullah, M.A, and Muhamad Tamamul Iman, M.Phil accompanied a delegation of 11 students to take part in the Future Heroes: Build a Bridge (Interfaith Live-In 2024) activity which was held for 3 days, on Friday-Sunday, 18-20 October 2024 at Wisma Sahabat Yesus (Wisma SY), Margonda, Depok City.
The activity entitled "Becoming Compassionate Leaders: Creating an Emotionally Intelligent and Compassionate Young Generation" is a collaborative program between the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Harapan Pemuda Indonesia (HPI), Tabula and the Indika Foundation which invites young people to learn about emotional intelligence and how to build constructive dialogues that come from different religious backgrounds.
Lecturer of Religious Studies, Faculty of Ushuluddin, Dr. Rahmat Hidayatullah, M.A, in his speech said, this is a very positive activity to strengthen social relations between religions which will be an important capital to strengthen the national values of the younger generation.
"Our nation consists of many beliefs and we have the right to express them and it is guaranteed by the state. We can get to know each other, create social solidarity, especially for young people who will play an important role in the future," he explained. Friday, (10/18/2024)
Here, Rahmat continued, the committee is trying to build the intelligence of the young friends here both in terms of intellectual and emotional.
"All intelligence must be embraced because young people have different intelligence characters. Here, friends can maximize this intelligence in a diverse meeting space like this. So that friends have a good religious taste and compassion. This can be a social capital because friends can learn to collaborate, which is an important skill that must be possessed in this era," he said again.
In the same place, the General Chairperson of Tabula, Arnold Lukito, M.Psi, Psychologist, said that the Live-In activity was attended by 40 students from 18 different universities.
"Here we invite our young friends who are present to get to know each other. The goal is to build awareness and skills of young people so that they can become emotionally intelligent individuals and not ignore aspects of social intelligence," he said.
"We can learn about diversity. We believe that tolerance cannot be taught just through words in class, but must be felt directly experimentally. Here we can learn together and process," he added.
Meanwhile, Lecturer of Philosophy at the Faculty of Ushuluddin, M. Tamamul Iman, M.Phil said that this activity was not only to get to know each other, but also to enrich the perspectives of students, especially about differences.
"Differences are a gift and a necessity. The dialogue that occurs here is built as a bridge for meeting various perspectives, so that our fellow students can be more open to differences. The hope is that they can build networks, build a sense of mutual respect, respect, care for each other and build constructive dialogue in a polite and loving manner towards others," he said on the sidelines of the activity.
Participants who take part in the Future Heroes: Build a Bridge (Interfaith Live-In 2024) activity will also conduct an interfaith pilgrimage (tour) to the Istiqlal Mosque and the Cathedral Church on the second day. (Azmi/Man/FU)
