Promoting the Health of the Academic Community, LKI Conducts Early Cancer Detection Awareness Session at the Faculty of Ushuluddin
Jakarta, FU Online News – The Faculty of Ushuluddin at UIN Jakarta, in collaboration with the Indonesian Cancer Foundation (LKI), organized a Socialization on Early Detection and Cancer Prevention on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. The event was attended by faculty leaders and members of the academic community and took place in the 4th Floor Meeting Room with high enthusiasm from participants.
The event was opened by the Vice Dean for General Administration, Dr. Lilik Ummi Kaltsum, M.A., accompanied by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Eva Nugraha, M.Ag., and the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Aktobi Ghozali, M.A.
The session featured Cici Puspita Sari, Amd.Keb., as the keynote speaker. In her presentation, she explained that cancer is a disease caused by the transformation of normal cells into abnormal cells that grow uncontrollably, and it is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Therefore, early detection and preventive measures are crucial steps in reducing the incidence of cancer.
The speaker outlined various cancer risk factors, ranging from genetic factors to exposure to chemical and physical substances. Dietary patterns involving the consumption of carcinogenic food and beverages, as well as unhealthy food processing methods, also contribute to increased cancer risk.
The session covered several common types of cancer, such as prostate cancer, cervical cancer, and breast cancer. Participants were provided with an understanding of high-risk groups, early symptoms, and early detection methods, including DRE and PSA tests for prostate cancer, Pap smear and IVA tests for cervical cancer, as well as mammography and breast self-examination (BSE/SADARI) for breast cancer.
In addition to early detection, the activity emphasized the importance of a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet, regular exercise, avoiding smoking, and maintaining personal hygiene. The speaker also shared information on the use of natural ingredients containing anti-cancer properties as preventive measures, with the note that consumption should be wise and in accordance with proper guidance.
Through this socialization, the Faculty of Ushuluddin hopes that the academic community will become more aware of the importance of maintaining health and be able to implement early detection and healthy lifestyle practices as efforts to prevent cancer. This activity also demonstrates the Faculty of Ushuluddin’s commitment, together with LKI, to supporting the health and well-being of the campus community.
