Hadith Studies Program of the Faculty of Ushuluddin Holds Community Service at Darul Muttaqien: Students Enthusiastic to Learn Hadith Authentication through Gamification

Jakarta, FU Online News – The Hadith Studies Program of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta, successfully carried out a Community Service Program (PkM) from October 13 to 15, 2025. The event took place at Darul Muttaqien Islamic Boarding School in Bogor, aiming to make hadith studies more accessible and relevant to the pesantren (Islamic boarding school) community.

The PkM activity coincided with the school’s Fathul Kutub program and was attended by fifth-year students, equivalent to eleventh graders in senior high school. Over three days, the participants received core materials on hadith authentication (takhrij al-hadith) and legal reasoning (istinbat al-hukm), which were presented in an engaging and interactive manner.

The students of Darul Muttaqien welcomed the program with great enthusiasm. One participant, Sadiyah, expressed her excitement about the learning experience:

“The material was really interesting and suited our generation. I didn’t even realize how much time had passed. My friends and I learned a lot about hadith, tafsir, and how to derive legal rulings from the Qur’an and Hadith,” she said.

The same enthusiasm was shared by Syarifah Rusydah, one of the lecturers and facilitators of the program.

“Their enthusiasm made me even more motivated to accompany them in learning,” said the Hadith Studies lecturer at UIN Jakarta.

The success of the activity was attributed to the creative learning method applied. Several sessions were delivered using gamification techniques, making it easier for students to grasp complex materials while maintaining their focus and interest.

Khoirul Huda, M.A., Secretary of the Hadith Studies Program, explained that such an approach was necessary when teaching advanced materials to high school-level students.

“Delivering materials of this level requires the right strategy. Therefore, we used relevant and adaptive media to ensure that the knowledge was effectively conveyed,” he stated.

In addition to the lecturers, Hadith Studies students were actively involved in the program. They assisted participants during learning sessions and helped enliven the atmosphere through educational games and motivational chants.

Dr. Sandi Santosa, Head of the Hadith Studies Program, emphasized that community service is an essential means of realizing the university’s Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

“Through this community engagement, we hope that the hadith studies developed in our program can bring broader benefits to society, especially in pesantren communities,” Dr. Sandi remarked.

Meanwhile, Ustadz Iwan Bagja, one of the teachers at Darul Muttaqien, expressed his gratitude for the collaboration.

“I am very grateful and would like to thank the Hadith Studies Program of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, UIN Jakarta, for sharing their knowledge with our students,” he said.

The PkM activity of the Hadith Studies Program serves as a tangible example of the synergy between academia and the pesantren world, fostering an Islamic intellectual tradition that is moderate, contextual, and sustainable.
