Family Gathering of the Faculty of Ushuluddin: Honoring the Dedication of Retired Lecturers

Jakarta, FU Online News — The Faculty of Ushuluddin at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a Family Gathering of the Faculty of Ushuluddin on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 09:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. WIB at the Meeting Room of the former Main Library Building, 1st Floor. This event became a warm and meaningful occasion to strengthen togetherness while honoring lecturers entering retirement after decades of service in academia.

The event was attended by the faculty leadership, heads of study programs, secretaries of study programs, lecturers, educational staff, and operational staff within the Faculty of Ushuluddin.

The event proceeded solemnly and warmly through a series of activities including the opening ceremony, sharing of impressions and messages from retiring lecturers, presentation of commemorative gifts, remarks and directions from the Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, prayer recitation, and concluded with a friendly gathering among the entire academic community.

The lecturers entering retirement were Prof. Dr. Ridwan Lubis, M.A., Drs. Moh. Nuh HS, M.Ag., Dr. Faizah Ali Syibromalisi, M.A., Dr. M. Suryadinata, M.Ag., Dr. Ahsin Sakho M. Asyrofuddin, M.A., and Drs. Abdul Muthalib, M.A., Ph.D.

In delivering his impressions and messages, Prof. Dr. Ridwan Lubis, M.A. expressed gratitude for his long journey of service at the Faculty of Ushuluddin. He revealed that although there had been offers to extend his service period, he chose to give space to the younger generation so they could continue to grow and carry on the baton of academic leadership. Warmly, he also recalled various experiences during his service at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and prayed that young lecturers would soon have the opportunity to become civil servants (ASN).

Meanwhile, Drs. Moh. Nuh HS, M.Ag. shared the story of his career journey, which began as a student, then becoming a teaching assistant, and eventually a permanent lecturer at the Faculty of Ushuluddin. He expressed hope that the Faculty of Ushuluddin would continue to progress, especially with the presence of a new building currently being prepared as a symbol of the faculty’s advancement.

Dr. M. Suryadinata, M.Ag. also reminisced about his academic journey at the Faculty of Ushuluddin, filled with valuable experiences alongside lecturers and students. He expressed gratitude for the togetherness built over the years and apologized for any mistakes in interactions during his service. He also prayed for continued health and blessings so that he could remain beneficial to society.

A heartfelt message was also delivered by Dr. Faizah Ali Syibromalisi, M.A., who recounted her academic journey and dedication until becoming a lecturer at the Faculty of Ushuluddin. She expressed gratitude to the teachers and colleagues who accompanied her intellectual journey, including her experience pursuing studies and completing her education under the guidance of Prof. Dr. M. Quraish Shihab. Although entering retirement, she emphasized that she would continue serving through teaching, religious studies, and other scholarly activities.

In his remarks and directions, the Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Prof. Ismatu Ropi, M.A., Ph.D., conveyed deep appreciation for the dedication of the retiring lecturers who had made significant contributions to the faculty’s development. He stated that he had gained many lessons and exemplary values from the senior lecturers during his leadership at the Faculty of Ushuluddin.

The Dean also highlighted the importance of regeneration within the academic environment, while emphasizing that retirement is a time for senior lecturers to enjoy rest after years of service. Nevertheless, he hoped that friendship and family ties would remain strong.

In addition, the Dean shared updates regarding the construction of the new Faculty of Ushuluddin building, which is currently being prepared as the faculty’s new identity. He explained that the idea for the construction emerged from the need for more representative facilities for academic activities. With gratitude, he acknowledged the support of various parties, enabling the planning process to proceed well without burdening the faculty.

“We need the support and prayers of the entire extended family of the Faculty of Ushuluddin so that the construction of this new building can proceed smoothly and bring blessings for the development of scholarship in the future,” he said.

The event concluded with a joint prayer, followed by a friendly gathering and lunch together in a warm and intimate atmosphere. The moment became an opportunity for strengthening ties and togetherness among the academic community of the Faculty of Ushuluddin in a family atmosphere, while also serving as a tribute to the retiring lecturers who had dedicated themselves to the advancement of scholarship and education at the Faculty of Ushuluddin, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
