Faculty of Ushuluddin UIN Jakarta Holds Strategic Coordination Meeting: Promotes Curriculum Reform and Academic Internationalization
Jakarta, FU Online News — The Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a Strategic Coordination Meeting on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the Faculty Meeting Room. The meeting was chaired by the Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Prof. Ismatu Ropi, M.A., Ph.D., and attended by the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tholabi, S.Ag., S.H., M.H., M.A., Vice Rector for Cooperation, Dr. Din Wahid, M.A., Heads of Centers, Special Staff to the Rector, Vice Deans, as well as Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs within the Faculty of Ushuluddin.
Contextual and Collaborative Curriculum Transformation
In his remarks, the Rector emphasized the urgency of curriculum reform that is more contextual and adaptive to contemporary developments. Study programs such as Aqidah and Philosophy, Sufism, and Comparative Religion are expected to adopt modern learning methodologies, including statistical approaches, the living hadith method, and curriculum visualization.
The Rector also encouraged cross-program and inter-faculty collaboration, as well as synergy with communities and external institutions, to enhance the academic relevance and competitiveness of the Faculty of Ushuluddin. Furthermore, internationalization was highlighted as a key agenda, including the facilitation of faculty mobility to countries such as Uzbekistan as part of expanding global academic networks.
“The Faculty of Ushuluddin must be the religious icon of UIN Jakarta, leading curriculum transformation in a collaborative and forward-thinking manner,” stated the Rector.
Infrastructure Enhancement, Digitalization, and the MBKM Program
Improvements in infrastructure, such as replacing traditional whiteboards with acrylic boards, providing standardized desks and chairs, and digitizing classrooms, were part of the broader efforts to modernize learning facilities. The faculty is also preparing for the implementation of the Green Campus initiative and strengthening information technology systems in collaboration with PUSTIPANDA.
The meeting also discussed the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, which continues to face challenges, including limited socialization among students and the need for broader external partnerships to support internship and independent study programs. Departments were urged to align their curricula more strategically with MBKM policies.
Institutional Support and Faculty Development
The Head of the Center for Curriculum Development and Learning (LPM) reported that curriculum revisions in four study programs had been approved and signed by the Rector, and are now awaiting implementation. Departments were asked to submit their updated curricula and course distribution to LPM without delay.
On the other hand, the Center for International Programs and Institutional Development (PLKI) is currently preparing postgraduate scholarship schemes for lecturers and academic staff, funding proposals for academic publications and proceedings, as well as supporting international academic mobility. These initiatives are designed to contribute to the achievement of UIN Jakarta's Key Performance Indicators (IKU).
The Dean of the Faculty also presented the faculty’s institutional development plans, including:
Proposing new study programs that align with industry and societal needs,
Developing improved learning infrastructure,
Enhancing human resource capacity through training and advanced study programs.
Key Agreements and Follow-Ups
Several key agreements and follow-up actions emerged from the meeting, including:
1. Curriculum Implementation:
a. Departments are expected to develop effective strategies to socialize the new curriculum to students.
b. Students will be offered flexibility to take cross-interest and cross-faculty courses in semesters 5–7.
2. Accreditation Preparation:
a. Departments are required to form dedicated teams to prepare accreditation documents.
b. LPM will provide intensive support during the accreditation process.
3. Institutional Development:
a. Proposals for new study programs will be finalized.
b. Budget proposals for learning facility improvements will be submitted through appropriate channels.
c. Special attention will be given to the faculty’s current budget constraints.
Closing Remarks and Message from the Rector
The meeting was officially concluded at 10:00 AM. In his closing remarks, the Rector reminded all academic staff and administrators of the importance of loyalty and dedication to the institution.
“UIN belongs to all of us. Love UIN sincerely. Do not treat it merely as a place to get a position while being busy elsewhere. And don’t return only when retirement nears just to request an extension.”
This coordination meeting reaffirmed the Faculty of Ushuluddin’s commitment to continuous improvement, academic excellence, collaborative partnerships, and advancing Islamic education on a global scale.
