Faculty of Ushuluddin Holds Curriculum Review and OBE-Based Course Syllabus Workshop: Strengthening the Implementation of OBE in the Curriculum and Course Syllabi of the Faculty of Ushuluddin

The Faculty of Ushuluddin at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a Curriculum Review and OBE-Based Course Syllabus (RPS) Workshop under the theme “Strengthening the Implementation of OBE in the Curriculum and Course Syllabi of the Faculty of Ushuluddin.” This activity was part of an ongoing effort to enhance lecturers’ expertise in adapting an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum in order to realize high-quality Islamic higher education that is adaptive and responsive to societal and labor market needs.
The workshop was conducted in two batches, each lasting two days, as follows:

Batch I: Monday–Tuesday, 3–4 November 2025, from 08.00 to 16.00 WIB

Batch II: Monday–Tuesday, 10–11 November 2025, from 08.00 to 16.00 WIB
The event took place at Adia Suites, Jakarta.
All lecturers of the Faculty of Ushuluddin participated fully in this activity. The workshop was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Prof. Ismatu Ropi, M.A., Ph.D., who in his opening remarks emphasized the importance of implementing an OBE-based curriculum as part of the transformation of higher education toward a stronger orientation on learning outcomes.
“The implementation of OBE does not merely require changes in curriculum structure, but also a shift in the learning paradigm. Lecturers play a crucial role in ensuring that every learning process is truly oriented toward measurable outcomes that are relevant to students’ needs,” stated Prof. Ismatu Ropi.
“Through this approach, the Faculty of Ushuluddin is committed to producing graduates who excel not only in theology and Islamic thought, but who also possess strong character, competencies, and social awareness in facing global challenges,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Dr. Eva Nugraha, M.A., explained that this activity served as an important momentum for all lecturers to strengthen their understanding and practical implementation of OBE within the Faculty.
“We want to ensure that every lecturer shares the same understanding of the OBE concept, so that the formulation and implementation of the 2025 curriculum can proceed in a coherent, effective manner and remain focused on student learning outcomes,” she explained.

The speakers delivered a range of key materials covering the fundamental concepts of OBE, mapping of program learning outcomes (PLOs), formulation of course learning outcomes (CLOs), as well as strategies for designing course syllabi and assessments in accordance with the principles of assessment for learning and assessment of learning.
Through this activity, the Faculty of Ushuluddin reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening lecturers’ capacity in implementing an OBE-based curriculum. It is expected that the outcomes of this workshop will result in a 2025 Curriculum Book fully aligned with OBE principles, along with course syllabi for all subjects that are firmly oriented toward learning outcomes.
The event concluded with a discussion session, reflection on workshop outcomes, and a group photo with all participants and speakers as a symbol of collaborative spirit in improving the quality of education within the Faculty of Ushuluddin.
The Curriculum Review and OBE-Based Course Syllabus Workshop stands as concrete evidence of the Faculty of Ushuluddin’s commitment to realizing its vision as a leading and competitive center of Islamic studies, while actively contributing to the development of a progressive Islamic civilization.
