Faculty of Ushuluddin Conducts International Community Service Program (KKN) in Thailand, Strengthening Global Collaboration through the Signing of MoUs

Jakarta, FU Online News – The Faculty of Ushuluddin at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has once again demonstrated its commitment to the internationalization of higher education through the implementation of the International Community Service Program (KKN) entitled "Ushuluddin Goes International: Promoting Peaceful Islam." The program, initiated by the Student Executive Board (DEMA) of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, carries the theme "Ushuluddin in Action: Promoting Peaceful Islam through Education and Cultural Exchange." It was held from 5–28 July 2026 in Pattani and Bangkok, Thailand, as part of the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi), particularly in education, community service, and the strengthening of international partnerships.

The International KKN involved 21 students from the Faculty of Ushuluddin, accompanied by Dr. Lilik Ummi Kaltsum, M.A. and Dr. Yuminah, M.A. Through this program, the students gained cross-cultural learning experiences while applying their academic knowledge through educational activities, community engagement, interfaith dialogue, and cultural exchange with local communities and educational institutions in Southern Thailand.

Community service activities were carried out at five partner schools in Southern Thailand: Saengprathip School, Thawee Withaya School, Al Islamiyah Withaya Muniti School, Bambrung Muslimin School, and Sassamakki School. At each school, the students conducted Qur'an learning sessions, Indonesian language instruction for foreign learners (BIPA), discussions on peaceful Islam and religious moderation, as well as Indonesian cultural performances. These activities provided valuable opportunities for students to implement their academic knowledge while fostering social and cultural relationships with students, teachers, and local communities.

As part of strengthening international collaboration, the Faculty of Ushuluddin also signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the five partner schools. The agreements mark a strategic step toward expanding cooperation in education, community service, student exchange, and the development of sustainable academic programs between the Faculty of Ushuluddin, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, and educational institutions in Thailand.

In addition to community service activities, the delegation visited Krirk University in Bangkok. The academic visit included a campus tour, academic exchange sessions, an international seminar, and discussions with members of the university's academic community. These activities enabled students to broaden their global perspectives, strengthen academic networks, and enhance international cooperation in higher education.

The implementation of this International KKN reflects the Faculty of Ushuluddin's commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically excellent but also socially responsible, culturally competent, and prepared to contribute on the global stage. The students' presence in Thailand also served as a platform to promote the values of peaceful, moderate, and inclusive Islam while introducing Indonesia's rich cultural heritage to the international community.

Through strengthened international networking and collaboration with educational institutions in Thailand, the Faculty of Ushuluddin continues to expand its role as a higher education institution that is responsive to global developments. This International KKN program is expected to become the foundation for sustainable cooperation in education, research, and community service, while supporting the Faculty's vision of producing globally competitive graduates capable of making meaningful contributions at both national and international levels.
