2026 PBAK for the Faculty of Ushuluddin Undergraduate Program: Caring for the Earth, Preserving Civilization

Jakarta, FU Online News — A total of 500 new undergraduate students of the Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, participated in the 2026 Faculty of Ushuluddin Academic and Student Culture Orientation Program (PBAK) on Friday–Saturday, August 28–29, 2026. Carrying the theme “Caring for the Earth, Preserving Civilization,” the program served as an important part of introducing new students to the academic environment, student culture, and campus life at the Faculty of Ushuluddin.

The Faculty of Ushuluddin PBAK was a continuation of the University-level PBAK, which was held on August 26–27, 2026. After being introduced to the university environment, new students were guided to become more familiar with the Faculty of Ushuluddin, its study programs, student organizations, and various academic development centers and student activities at the faculty level.

The program was attended by students from five study programs: Aqidah and Islamic Philosophy (AFI), Study of Religions (SAA), Qur’anic Studies and Exegesis (IAT), Hadith Studies (ILHA), and Sufism Studies (IT). The activities were centered around the Faculty of Ushuluddin Building.

Getting to Know the Faculty and Building an Academic Culture

The first day of PBAK focused on an introduction to the Faculty of Ushuluddin. The series of activities began with the arrival and registration of new students, followed by the opening ceremony, Qur’anic recitation, and the singing of Indonesia Raya and the Hymn of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

Following remarks from the Chair of the 2026 FU PBAK Organizing Committee and the Chair of the Faculty of Ushuluddin Student Executive Board (DEMA), the event continued with remarks from Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Prof. Ismatu Ropi, M.A., Ph.D.

Students were then introduced to the leadership of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and their respective areas of responsibility. The session featured the Dean, Vice Dean I, Vice Dean II, and Vice Dean III. In addition to introducing the faculty’s leadership structure, students also received an introduction to the student code of ethics at the Faculty of Ushuluddin.

The introduction to the academic environment was further strengthened through a PSGA session discussing issues related to creating a safe and equitable academic environment. Students then participated in Ushuluddin Dialogue, featuring H. Wildan Hasan Syadzili, S.M.Ed. and Bahal Siregar, S.Ag., M.Si. as speakers.

PBAK did not focus solely on academic matters. It also introduced various platforms for student self-development. Students were introduced to IKAL-FU, faculty-level student organizations, as well as various student institutions and communities, including the Ushuluddin Language Center (ULC), Ushuluddin Research Center (URC), Ushuluddin Development Center (UDC), Ushuluddin Creative Group (UKG), and Mahasiswa Ushuluddin Bersuara (MUARA).

The first day concluded with mentoring and the checking of new students’ notes before participants left the campus in an orderly manner. Interestingly, the departure was also accompanied by a “ant operation”, an activity encouraging students and committee members to work together to maintain campus cleanliness by collecting litter. This activity reflected the spirit of this year’s PBAK theme, “Caring for the Earth, Preserving Civilization.”

Day Two: Getting to Know the Study Programs More Closely

While the first day focused on introducing the Faculty of Ushuluddin in general, the second day provided new students with an opportunity to get to know their respective study programs more closely through Study Program PBAK sessions.

The Study Program PBAK sessions were held in parallel according to each study program. IAT students attended the activities at the Main Stage, Hadith Studies (ILHA) students at the Theater, SAA students in Rooms 501–502, AFI students in Rooms 503–504, and IT students in Room 506.

This arrangement provided students with a more specific space to learn about the academic characteristics, academic environment, and student life within their respective study programs.

Following the study program sessions, the activities continued with a Sharing Session featuring Ahmad Fauzi, S.Ag. and Rabitul Umam, S.Ag., M.A. as speakers. The program then continued with an Open Forum, providing new students with space for interaction and expression.

The PBAK series concluded with the socialization of the Faculty of Ushuluddin Student Executive Board (DEMA) programs, announcement of nominations, a closing prayer, and the orderly departure of the new students.

Cultivating Environmental Awareness from the Beginning

Through the 2026 PBAK, the Faculty of Ushuluddin not only introduced new students to the academic system and student life but also instilled values of environmental awareness and the sustainability of shared life.

The theme “Caring for the Earth, Preserving Civilization” serves as a reminder that higher education goes beyond mastering knowledge. Students also have a responsibility to develop awareness, concern, and concrete contributions to the environment and social life.

With the conclusion of the Faculty PBAK series on August 28–29, 2026, new undergraduate students of the Faculty of Ushuluddin are expected to be increasingly prepared to enter academic and student life, build networks, develop their potential, and contribute to realizing an excellent Ushuluddin that contributes to civilization.
