2026 PBAK for the Faculty of Ushuluddin Graduate Program Strengthens Research Ecosystem and Academic Culture
Jakarta, FU Online News — The Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held the 2026 Academic and Student Culture Orientation Program (PBAK) for its Graduate Program on Wednesday–Thursday, September 2–3, 2026. Under the theme “Strengthening the Research Ecosystem, Advancing Ushuluddin Excellence, Innovation, and Global Competitiveness,” the program provided new students with an opportunity to become familiar with the academic environment while preparing themselves for the educational and research processes at the graduate level.
Held at the 7th Floor Auditorium of the Main Library Building of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, the program was attended by 50 students from three study programs: the Master’s Program in Islamic Theology and Philosophy (MAFI), the Master’s Program in the Study of Religions (MSAA), and the Master’s Program in Qur’anic Studies and Exegesis (MIAT).
The PBAK program opened with remarks by Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Prof. Ismatu Ropi, M.A., Ph.D. This was followed by an academic orientation delivered by Vice Dean I of FU, Dr. Eva Nugraha, M.Ag., covering the faculty’s vision and mission, academic culture, and regulations that students need to understand throughout their studies at the Faculty of Ushuluddin.
Beyond introducing the general academic system, PBAK also provided a platform for students to understand the characteristics and development directions of their respective study programs. An overview of program structures, curricula, and research roadmaps was delivered by the heads of the respective study programs.
The MAFI and MSAA programs are led by Prof. Dr. Bambang Irawan, M.Ag. as Head of Study Programs, assisted by Muhammad Tamamul Iman, M.Phil. as Secretary. Meanwhile, the MIAT program was represented by Dr. Ahmad Fudhaili, M.Ag. as Head of Study Program and Humaidi, S.Th.I., M.Ud. as Secretary.
The strengthening of academic culture was also carried out through an Ethics Literacy session covering academic ethics, research integrity, and plagiarism prevention. The session was complemented by a question-and-answer discussion and academic consultation, enabling students to gain a more practical understanding of the regulations and ethical standards governing academic activities and research.
As graduate students are expected to develop strong research competencies, participants also received a Library and Repository Literacy session. Materials on access to academic journals, repositories, and the Learning Management System (LMS) were delivered by Head of the UPT Library of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Agus Rifa’i, S.Ag., S.S., M.Ag., Ph.D., with Naufal Ulya serving as moderator.
On the second day, the program focused more specifically on strengthening research competencies. Following a review of the first day’s materials, students participated in a session entitled “Strengthening Research Methodology: Approaches, Designs, and Strategies.”
Students from MSAA and MAFI attended a joint session with Dadi Darmadi, M.A., Ph.D., moderated by Khoirotun Nisak, S.Ag., M.Fil. Meanwhile, MIAT students received research methodology training from Prof. Kusmana, M.A., Ph.D., with the same moderator.
The training continued with a session on Strengthening Thesis Writing, which covered thesis structure, academic writing, and citation techniques. The session was delivered by Dr. Rahmat Hidayatullah, M.A. and Dr. Rizky Yazid, M.Ag., with Alasti Elva Mentari, Lc., M.A. as moderator.
Through this series of activities, students were not only introduced to the academic system and environment of the Faculty of Ushuluddin but were also encouraged to begin developing a mindset as researchers and academics. Mastery of research methodology, academic writing skills, academic integrity, and the effective use of scholarly resources are essential foundations for their graduate studies.
The 2026 Graduate Program PBAK concluded with an evaluation session and a group photo. The program is expected to serve as an initial step toward building a strong academic culture while further strengthening the research ecosystem at the Faculty of Ushuluddin.
With these foundations, graduate students of the Faculty of Ushuluddin at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta are expected to develop research that is excellent, innovative, ethical, and globally competitive, in line with the Faculty of Ushuluddin’s direction as a center of excellence for Islamic studies and Ushuluddin-related disciplines.
