2026 Faculty of Ushuluddin Lecturers Training Strengthens Research Competence through Bibliometrics

Jakarta, FU Online News — The Faculty of Ushuluddin at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta organized the 2026 Faculty of Ushuluddin Lecturers Training under the theme “Strengthening Lecturers’ Research Competence through Bibliometrics to Improve the Quality of Reputable Scientific Publications.” The training was held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Adia Suites, Jl. Kertamukti, UIN Jakarta Campus 2 area, Pisangan, East Ciputat, South Tangerang, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB).

The training was organized as part of the Faculty of Ushuluddin’s efforts to enhance lecturers’ research competencies, particularly in utilizing bibliometric analysis to support literature reviews and scientific publications. Bibliometrics can be used to map the development of a particular research field, identify influential works and researchers, examine topic trends, and discover research and collaboration opportunities.

The training materials were delivered by Dr. Adi Wijaya, M.Kom., a lecturer and research fellow at Universitas Indonesia Maju (UIMA) Jakarta, whose areas of expertise include data science, data mining, machine learning, and secondary studies, including bibliometric analysis, scoping reviews, systematic reviews, and meta-analysis.

During the training, participants were introduced to various types of bibliometric analysis, including co-author analysis, co-occurrence analysis, citation analysis, bibliographic coupling analysis, and co-citation analysis. These analyses can help researchers map relationships and collaborations among authors, affiliations, and countries; identify influential works; map research trends and topic clusters; and understand the knowledge foundations of a particular field of study.

In addition to the technical aspects of analysis, the training emphasized the importance of research gaps and novelty in research. Participants were encouraged to understand how to identify unanswered questions, research that needs to be updated, concepts that remain underexplored, as well as populations or research contexts that have received insufficient attention.

The training also covered important stages in conducting bibliometric analysis, beginning with defining the research objectives and scope, selecting appropriate analytical techniques, collecting and preprocessing data, and proceeding to the visualization and presentation of research findings. The alignment among data, analytical techniques, academic writing, and the target publication outlet was also highlighted throughout the training.

Through this activity, the Faculty of Ushuluddin hopes that its lecturers will become increasingly proficient in utilizing bibliometric approaches as part of their research development strategies. This competency is expected to strengthen the quality of scholarly studies, assist in identifying relevant and novel research directions, and ultimately contribute to improving the quality of scientific publications by Faculty of Ushuluddin lecturers at both national and international levels.

The one-day training was attended by lecturers from the Faculty of Ushuluddin.
